CX500 GL500 650 Global

Here is the bike that started me learning about CX's! She sat behind a barn for 18 years before I got it! To bad I don't have a before picture!

As per email I got the carbs in Pinky.Run them in a bit.All's well.Checked balance and they are dead on.Luckily they hadn't moved since the last time I balanced this set.

I have noticed tho' that Pinky vibrates more than Laz ny other CX but then she always did

I'm not that versed on the electronics as you and others are, but could it be a resistor in one of the caps or a coil?
Does she vibrate at all RPM or just idle?

It's at different rev bands.It's a UK CX so they don't have the resistor caps.
Remembering back to when I built this engine over 3 years ago I think it has different weight crank pins(Con-rods).I wasn't as well versed on the engines as I am now so this may becausing the vibrations.All engines since then I've found and used same weight rods

When I rebuilt my 78 motor, I ordered new piston pins from an after market company because Honda didn't list them. When I got them, I noticed they were much thicker than the stock pins. Needless to say, they are still hanging on my peg board holding up rolls of tape and my stethoscope for diagnosing engine noises. That's the safest place for them. Any part that is heavier or lighter replaced in any motor will produce a vibration and harmonics that could cause damage if the entire assembly is not rebalanced at a reputable high performance engine shop. One of these days, I would like to have one of these motors done this way. I'll bet it would really add to the RPM's and performance!

That's a great looking bike. Did you chrome some of those pieces, or is that all just hard work and polishing? The forks are incredible, same with the clutch cover. I've spent so much time just trying to get a running machine, I haven't really done much yet in making her look pretty. Your's would definitely get asked to the prom, mine would be in the marching band carrying a tuba!
