Throttle Cable Routing

Postby <4fc8.html?mode=viewprofile&u=716">scootadoc » Fri Jul 30, 2010 6:00 am

Hope this isn't an old topic...did a search and came up with no posts regarding proper throttle cable routing. Seems I was supposed to tie a string to the old cables before removing, but...

Now the throttle is very slow to return to closed and the engine races like crazy when I start up. Could be something else, but I suspect the cables, based on many experiences of this sort in the past.

QUESTION: Does anyone have a diagram for routing the cables? Or a photograph? Or a description? Or a hint?

Have to pull everything apart again, so want to get it right this time.

Thanks for any input!!!

Here you go,

Note:On one of my CX I had to file down the B pull cable bracket as the carb end to allow the After market cable to have a bit more slack as the AM B cable was tight and of course has no adjustment like the A pull cable and it was the B cable when fitted that made both cables tight when fitted.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

I believe there is a cable routing guide in the service manual.

The routing on your '81 Custom may differ slightly from the Standard that Shep shows. Check the '81 Addendum in the FSM. It's available for download from the drop.io site.
