Hi guys,
Long story short I have had to replace the camshaft on my engine so I removed the rockers to release the pressure on the push rods & cam followers.
I was hoping not to disturb the head gaskets but inevitably I have & they have both wept oil & coolant over the gasket & down the cylinder block.
The engine has done about 60,000 miles & never been touched until now.
I presume it would be foolish to replace the engine without renewing the head gaskets now the seal has been broken. Can anyone give me their opinion on this please.
Also, if I must go in there what else should I be looking at?
Should I decoke & grind the valves for the hell of it or only if they need doing?
Should I replace the piston rings while I am in there?
Any other jobs recomended?
Bearing in mind I am a begginer with internal engine jobs & I never wanted to disturb the cylinder block in the first place so I only really want to do essential jobs.
Any advice appreciated!
