CX500 GL500 650 Global

My CX has a snapped tachometer cable. The Haynes manuals are not very detailed on this and only way to get to it is to drop the coolant and off with the radiator. Don't feel confident enough to do this yet and i read somewhere it is possible to change it by removing the tank and using a loooooooong thin extension bar on the bolt, is this possible? Love my CX to bits but isn't that a great idea? Mount the tacho drive on the front of the camshaft on an OHV longitudinal V-twin with a great big radiator in front of it! Ease of maintenance?

You may be able to do it with the rad on but it's usually too tight to get in.You might be able to just remove the Rad Allen bolts and move the rad forward bit?

How did you get on?? It's not hard at all to drop the radiator, but it can be done as you say, with a very loooong extension.
But seriously, 2 hose clamps and about 4 bolts, its out. Dont forget to check the fan for cracks or fractures. They get old and brittle.
