Pulse Generator Problem?

Postby quicksilver » Thu Feb 25, 2010 5:00 am

Hi all. I am wondering if someone might lend their knowhow to me? When I took my Cx650 motor apart years ago thochange the cam chain tensioner, could it be possible that I put it back together wrong? What i mean is, does it go on only in one position, or could I have positioned it slightly askew? Could this possibly be why it turns over but will not fire? I was totally clueless when I did this, as I took the motor apart, and it sat for quite a long time until I did the repair and I was unsure of myself.
Thanks...Ken

Yes.They can be put on wrong.

Join Chopper Charle's forum and post on there as there's lot of 650 owners just to check,

As I've never had a GL or 650 with the TAI ignition I cannot say exactly how to align it but you can download a manual from this forum link as well,

I think people get them upside down e.g 180 Deg out.

MY CDI bikes have an alignment mark and IIRC only go one way but even then they have to be aligned. It's not hard on the 650s etc once you can get to the unit I'm led to believe.

Thanks again Sheppola. I wondered after the fact if I could have installed the Pulse generator wrong. Been too many years ago.

I just joined Chopper Charles forum and have found a lot more info. Hopefully I can tackle this project next week when I have more free time.

Once you get to the unit you should be ok.I suspect that's all it is as the TAI ignition is pretty simple and robust.
