i have tried that on many things and it doesnt work as well as you think it would. its a very mild abrasive.

It is only going to work if your not trying to remove crust and corrosion I would think. Already smooth surfaces would benefit from it though. Is that right Shep?

Yes.It's good for stuff that isn't corroded like a last finish or on Chrome

I've also used toothpaste to clear up scratches in plexiglass (fairings & windshields). If it's a bad scratch, you have to take it down with finer and finer sandpaper, then finish it off with toothpaste. It worked wonders.

I tried toothpaste to polish out some scratches on a small bicycle computer screen. It worked a treat getting the larger scratches down to a very fine blur in the plastic. I need to find something else to polish out the blur altogether. Maybe your average wax will do the job

I don't remember who makes it, but a good plastic buffing compound (for CD's and DVD's ) works wonders.
