CX500 GL500 650 Global

Hi all,
I'm new to the bigger bike scene but have been riding the small mopo's that are common to southeast asia for about 20 years.
Last year i bought a GL 400 and i am amazed at how much easier it is to ride than a honda dream 125. The bike "fits" me better so is far easier to handle and feels much safer in the corners, and the extra power is also appreciated.
I'm originally from NZ(kiwi) but work in Western Australia for six months and then spend the next six months living at my house in northern Thailand.
I spent about nine years living and working in the UK, London, in the courier industry back in the early eighties and saw many CX500's in the course of my job. the consensus of the riders then was that the CX500 was the best bike for the job by a long ways and as i understand it now makes it difficult to find bikes in good condition. Probably good for the secondhand spares market though?
My GL400 was in pretty ordinary shape when i purchased it and after searching for the source of the overheating problem for the best part of a year, and finding the solution through another CX/GL forum, am on the way to some great rides. Had the bike painted and changed all the fluids, filters etc and with the addition of a small bag rack on the back in the next two weeks will be on my way.
I'd like to thank you all on the way that you help each other through all the problems that are experienced in the everyday life of a CX'er/GL'er. As we all agree that these bikes are getting on in years, like many of us, and keeping them going isn't always easy, but with the knowledge that you have some great mates and info on the forum makes the going that much easier.Thanks
