My friend purchased a 1979 CX500 a couple of weeks ago with a known problem where it will not go over 50mph, as we all told him it's probably something simple like vacuum lines. After some searching around the bike I've found that disconnecting 'either' of these wires (yellow/peach) will allow the bike to rev past the 4,500 rpm limit. Disconnecting both kills the bike, of course with either one disconnected I still cannot accelerate in gear. Since I can't read electrical diagrams to save my life. I was hoping that someone could assist me in what those wires do. Also, I've read about the 'white wire fix' but until my buddy comes over with a multimeter I couldn't even begin to try it. The page that everyone points to is no longer up (group dispute?). Any advice is welcome.

Since I don't have a signature set up yet: Location Cincinnati, Ohio area
