I have been cleaning CX500 carbs now for people for a while, I bought the sonic cleaner and all, works some of the time. I have some wm32mm round slide mikunis on my CX500 right now, pulls like a modded bike with them on. I have been back and forth with Chad Thomson from Sudco to try to get the correct needlejet and jetneedle combination ( he is on vacation this week). He is a good guy and knows more than anyone about carbs. I just got my foot out of a cast or I would have the WM32 carbs sorted out by now.(maybe)
I did see this info on the Sudco Facebook ......
Honda CX500 owners (or friend of owners). We here at Sudco have been getting more and more calls requesting carbs for the CX500. If you have a CX500 or know of a CX500 owner in the Los Angeles area, please contact Chad at
[email protected] or (310)637-8330. If we use your bike and find something that works we will give you that carburetor conversion.
If you live near L.A. you can get some free carbs. I hope that they get some available soon. Even if you don't get free ones, the wm32 round slides are cheap and can even be taken from older bikes (ebay) and re-jetted once they figure out what jets are needed.
The VM32 Mikuni round slides are cheap and easily cleaned and just happen to bolt right on a CX500. No more dishing out for rebuild parts I hope. After putting on the 32's I will not go back to the stock junkers, starts better, runs better, pulls waaaay harder on top end now. Once I get the proper jetting for the mid-range I will be a happy camper. A few emails or would sure help get the ball rolling I bet. Good luck guys.
