CX500 GL500 650 Global

Wanted to post photos of my 1980 CX500D project. I sign on the Chopper Charles forum
as Exploring Carolina. Currently working on the seat pan installation, will install tires and
front fender next. Here is a list of work planned for the CX and sure there will be much more
work not listed.

Replace exhaust system and rear shocks
Replace timing chain and all associated parts
Rebuild front shocks
Install voltmeter & on/off switch for headlight
Install new front brake master cylinder
Install new brake pads/shoes front/back
Install new cables
Install new water pump oil seal
Remove engine & paint frame/fenders yellow & black
Install new pod filters and rejet carbs

Will be asking questions from time to time also.

Added 10/26:

Made some progress during the past couple days. Installed
new tires & used HD mufflers. Since my H Box is in terrible
condition, had a local muffler shop to bend connector pipes
from the headers to the mufflers. The connector pipes are
made out of a steel/aluminum blend, so they can be polished
with aluminum polish. Was running out of daylight for photos,
so stopped polishing and installed the connectors & mufflers.
Will buy chrome clamps for the connectors, headers, and mufflers.
Used 1/8"X1" steel strap to hang the mufflers from the passenger
footpeg weldment!

Just received my LED voltage indicator from the UK.

Can't wait to ride the bike in the North Carolina mountains.
The guys I ride with are retired and ride modern Sport Touring
& Sport Bikes. The CX should be fun & comfortable riding with the
other retired guys. Have some more weight reductions to make, but
believe the final weight will be under 420 pounds or 190KG.
