Wire colour Resistance(Ohms)
White to Blue 77-95
Green to White 387-473
Orange to Green 95-116
Light Blue to Green 95-116
Orange/Red to Green 81-99
Light Blue/Red to green 81-98

Note some resistance checks stators are 315/385 ohms for the White to Blue.Also some of the readings
can be a little out and still function ok.

ok, dumb question but ive never used an ohm-meter before. What setting do i put it on (200 2k 200k ect) obvously it goes on the Om but then what?

For those readings use 200 ohms.If a,"1" shows on a reading that means the resistance had gone over the 200 ohms so then move up to the next setting which is 2000 ohms(2K).K just stands for x1000.

As you can see from the list above some readings are meant to be below 200 ohms so the 200 ohm setting will work bit where they go above 200 you have to move up one level,

is this test (with these numbers) supposed to be done with no power to the cdi? i ask because i have two cdi's sitting in my shed but no way to put them on a running bike to test them. it'd be nice to know if i should toss 'em or not.

[edit]: my bad. working on limited sleep so i thought this was a way to test cdi's. but it looks like it's testing stators in cdi bikes. is there a way to test cdi's without hooking them up to a bike?

Resistance tests don't rely on current so you should be able to do them off the bike.The green wire that comes from the CDI is a ground wire so that can be used as if it were attached to the bike's frame.

I have a spare working CDI box so I'll do some off-bike tests later today if I get chance.

I have tried but unfortunately I cannot get any readings so I'm afraid my assumption was wrong.It looks like the unit has to be in place and powered then you can check some voltages as per the manual?

thanks. i was "afraid" of that. maybe i can find someone near me that has a running cx who'll drop them in and give them a test run to see if they work or not. thanks for taking a look for me.

That is the best option and if you can find some one they may even want to buy one as a spare.I know I would if I were there as I bought a spare of Ebay some years ago which I tested on the bike and keep dry,safe and painted ready to go in.
