CX500 GL500 650 Global

I'm thinking it'd be nice to have a big topic on mods, I've seen a million mods on these bikes, and you have to search far and wide to find out what can be done... If there is a reference to what you are speaking about, it would be appreciated if you could include it so we don't have to search high and low to find it, being that several of these links are not on this forum, some people might not be able to find it at all

This winter, as my bikes sit in the warmth of my living room, I'm trying to figure out what all I can do, what I want to do, and what I can afford... My plans will be starting as soon as I get my tax return. There's one thing I like about winter in Michigan, it gives me time to do the stuff to my baby that I don't during the rest of the year because she's on the road too much.

1: 2-1 exhaust, cheapest I've found other than possibly ebay is found here
2: Rejet, which I don't know if there's a topic on somewhere, that has someone explain how to figure out what size jets to use, if you find one please post it or send me a message and I can add the link here
3: flush radiator and full cooling system here
4: complete tear down of carbs, which I suggest buying Larry's book located here
5: add a cigarette lighter so I can light up on the road and charge my phone etc. which can be found on any bike parts site
6: the electric fan conversion here
7: Dyna seat mod Customs located here, Deluxe located here
8: change fork oil to 20w for stiffer handling/braking here
9: Changing the front end for dual disk brakes here
10: Lowering your bike here I've seen various other posts, but they're usually scattered info, so I tried to sum up what I've learned...
11: Most importantly, FUEL FILTER!!! A few bucks can save your carbs, they start at $3, so why the hell not?

I've been running LED stop tail bulbs for years now.Cheap and much better than normal bulbs.Draw less current,come on faster and are virtually indestructible

Those just replace the normal light, as in no mod necessary? That looks like another to be added to my project

Yes they're a straight swap.On the UK CX500s I have to take off the rear lens to fit them as the bulb head is too big to fit through the hole at the back of the assembly(Normal way) but it's no biggy as the bulbs just never go and even if one of the LEDS goes the rest of the bulb would keep working anyway as the are wired in parallel

Always worth cleaning all the contacts whilst in there.In fact do the WHOLE bike as over 90% of roadside breakdowns are bad electrics/batteries/contacts,
