I don't' see how it would hurt if it's nearly invisible, so long as it's not rigid so carbs can still wiggle a little with the engine. I think the leather idea lends an old school type of thing where as the metal strap leans towards the' rolling junkyard' thing RichE poo loves so much!!

Well bad/unusual news.Just done a 65 mile jaunt.Bike with Harley cans,Iriduim plugs and no filter and I've just got the lowest mileage ever on the bike!!!Heh Heh

42!!!!! to the UK gallon according to early figures.Pinky my standard one can get 60 mpg remember.

65 miles is not a great test of course.

Heh.Heh.At one of the country road junctions pulled up next to a big harley.It just had to be done.Throttled it and all I saw was a dot in my wing mirrors<BFG> as I hit 80 in no time He didn't know what had buzzed him

Checked plugs and they are only slightly lighter than correct Tan.No re=jetting.Full power-band through all gears/rev bands.Maybe different jets would give different results,dunno.As this is my test/500cc,"Monkey bike CX" I'm not bothered about the mileage but what a buzz

It's got wicked acelleration but then it got a boost when I fitted the Harleys.Although it's had several engines in and out for re-building/tests the carbs have not been touched since I re-built the bike nearly 3 years ago.With the better gear I have now and better knowledge I think it's time to service/change them but they run soo... well.I've got a spare pair in vinegar soak as we speak so over the next week I think I'll swap them as that does sound low to me even with the apparant power.

Problem is it's not easy to keep my hand off the throttle when you hear the noise and feel the pull on it
I love slinging that bike around our county roads etc

Yeah, the roar from the pods makes it nearly impossible for me to ride normally, no wonder mileage suffers...heh, heh

And as LRCXed said, I feel like a punk kid again, you just want to tool around looking for trouble and the occasional unsuspecting the Harley owner....I image it will take a getting used to.

Emgos, yeah, I have my doubts about their filtering... There are some foam pod-style filters available for off-road bikes, though, and I would expect (perhaps ASSume) that they should do a perfectly adequate job of filtering... I believe even the mighty(expensive) K&N makes some pods that could be adapted.

And I figure, if a leather strap is good enough for my battery, it should be good enough for my carbs!

You should buy a breather filter for the breather that is just hanging out in that post
