Nice job Chris. Those Euros look as good if not better than many modern designs IMHO and of course apart from Guzzis there's nothing like the CX/GLs on the market.

Can you post details of the shells and job you did.

Did you have to get the crank re-ground?

How did you work out the shells sizes?

Did they have to be modified.I'm trying to get together information for possible crank re-grinds for both the CX500s and the 650s.

It looks pretty good in the flesh too Chris.

I was lucky to be able to fit original shells when rebuilding my 650 engine but I had to fit Audi rings and have the pistons machined. It is run-in now after 2000 miles, including a trip over the France (and the charge back to Le-Havre @ 80 - 90).

It has stopped using oil, which was the object of the exercise.
Dave.

If ever you have real bad luck and need to get a crank job I talked with these people some time ago,

http://www.sep-kegworth.co.uk/page1.htm

For a CX500 crank I think it came to around £250 door-to-door.As we can't get undersized shells this lot will re-build a crank to stock specs so standard shells can be used. This was the best thing I could find.I know ,"The Don" in Aus has had cranks ground down but then sourcing the shells was a pain and then they had to be drilled and modified :(
