Just got my CX500 Eurosport back on the road 15 years after putting it away having been unable to fix a binding rear brake. All is now sorted thanks to all the great info on this site. Turned out to be a blockage in the tiny hole under the plastic inlet pipe on the master cylinder. It was also suffering from a split float bowl overflow that again I would not have found had I not read through the sage advice and guidance on here. Now looking forward to better weather and racking up some miles. Thanks for such a great resource. |

Thanks for the tip. I had seen the David Silver ones whilst trying to source other service items. After 15 years I thought id better replace all the seals in the braking system and fit new hoses too. I also took the opportunity to make some stainless steel pistons for the twin pot calipers. I am now considering machining into the pad side face of the caliper dust seal groove to enable me to fit proper lip seals rather than the square section dust seals fitted originally. I found when it was my daily ride that water gets into the groove and corrodes the aluminium pushing the seals hard against the piston thus seizing the brake. Excellent reference site you have here, I was struggling to get the fluid to flow after all the brake work so was pleased to find your tips for doing it. job done. |
