Hi everyone, I just picked up a 79 cx-500 on Monday. It is running but needs some work. The PO said it will not go above 50mph, I checked the stator and it looks to be good. I have already changed the oil to Rotella and the final drive oil. I will tackle the carbs next week and if that gets it going will be doing the other preventative maintenance. The rear tire is cracked and the bearing need replaced, haven't checked the front yet. Will be needing a new front caliper/master cylinder for the front brake. I'm hoping to make this my daily rider, presently I am riding a Victory Vision and although it is great for trips it is not the ideal bike for running around town.
