good morning gentlemen.
im looking for a uk supplier for a carb repair kit.
to suit my gli 500.
anyone got any recomendations.
tried georgefix over the pond.no joy.

AFAIK the only differences between internals on the GL as opposed to the CXs is the Accelerator pump.GoergeFix's kits are excellent value and I've just sent for some for some spare carbs I'm going to service and sell.

So you can use a standard carb kit for your float type as well(Metal/Plastic or all plastic?) as the float needle valves are different.

The ACVs are the same and they can be got off Ebay or Wemoto,

as can some of the basic kits.I like GF's kits at they come with new jets as well as all the o-rings and importantly new Idle Mixture screws.

However depending on the state of the internals I've re-used a lot of o-rings so long as they have not perished or been damaged.

So
CX carb kit for your float type.
CX ACV kit.
GL Accelerator kit.

Note:ACVs can be bypassed with no ill effects.

You can contact LRCxed(Larry) to be certain and introduce yourself and say I asked you to check with him.

However if you are not actually having any problems and are getting good fuel mileage then why bother?More important to balance the carbs IMHO if they are running well.Also adding some UCL(Upper Cylinder Lubricant) like

To the fuel from time to time will help lube and keep the carbs clean.
In line filter is important as well.

I don't know about over in the UK, but I used a Randakk kit for my gl500 and it was just perfect. Every single item you need and packaged in seperate bags for each carb. Give it a look.

I have and they are not as comprehensive IMHO.They do not come with new jets or idle mixture screws and are more expensive.

I've just sent for 3 kits(to do one and a half carbs) and even including postage from the US George did them for $63.Absolute bargain IMHO.

Note:I've recently serviced the carbs on my Main CX which has a GF kit in it and after two years no problems.

Here's where I will be getting mine..not too bad of shipping charges,( and best price I have found so far) considering Canada is usually quite pricey even to to the States...so I'm not sure it's cost effective for you. Worth a check.

They are the same comprehensive kits offered by,"GeorgeFix" and the ones I use.

I'd check out his kits as well.He does great deals.I got him to send me 3 kits( for one and a half carbs) and inc postage to the UK only $63 US

Kits from some other sellers only contain basically O-rings but I like new jets and idle mixture screws as well just in case and then keep the old ones as spares.

Mention my name and you may get a better deal.He is a Gent and great to do business with.He doesn't mind emails/questions Via Ebay :)

No more carb kit's for me. Sudco is soon making a very cheap alternative...VM32 round slides. I have them on mine, I have tried new wm32's carbs and old wm32's from an old T500 Suzuki..they bolt right on. I am now fiddling with the midrange with the help of Sudco. The things pull waaaay harder than stock on top end. Now I see that they are setting up to sell the WM32's.....it's about time. For the price of cleaning and a rebuild kit we can have carbs that last forever and work better. I am not a carb expert like the Sudco people, but if even I can make my CX500 pull that hard I can't imagine what the Sudco pros will come up with.

Honda CX500 owners (or friend of owners). We here at Sudco have been getting more and more calls requesting carbs for the CX500. If we use your bike and find something that works we will give you that carburetor conversion.


Drop Sudco an email and let them know that we need an alternative to the stock squirt guns that Honda calls carbs. Good luck and I hope everyone can get good carbs from now on. I been fighting CX500 carbs for too long now.

I've seen a lot of carb repair kits on ebay though never tried using them yet.
