Hi y'all, I've been on the other site for a few months, but I figure the more places the better, somebody somewhere has done everything I have done or will have to do. I've been the proud owner of a 79 cx deluxe since april, but my ride time has been a whole 2 weeks total. When I first got it I had to do all the standard things to get it running, and shortly after begining to ride it started the infamous cam chain death rattle. I've replaced the motor with one from an 80 custom but am currently waiting on a couple parts to get mailed to me before I can test ride it. I will hopefully be able to get it running and get some joy from it before winter. I live up in New England, southeast Mass., so our riding season is from march till november, give or take. I know many people stop riding when it starts getting cold, I'm not planning on buttoning her up and winterizing her till I see the first forecast of snow.

Welcome aboard Kingston. Nice to see you here. Sounds like you have things pretty much under control. Hopefully all goes well and you get to ride a lot before the snow!

Welcome aboard.
I learned that no matter how much you want to ride your bike once it hits 27 degrees that's where I stop. Last year I rode my bike briefly in december. It was cold as hell so I wheeled it back into the shed.

I ride all year round but I have to take extra care because of my VWF(Vibration White finger).I have home made heated grips on one of my CXs,

It also has Brush gaurds and a small Windshield.for winter I wear a pair of,"Vulcan" gloves which take a bit of getting used to,

Which help and have a heavy Armoured Winter Jacket and a heated inner jacket and am making myself another better heated inner jacket out of a cheap Body warmer so it can be powered off the bike instead of the re-chargable battery one I have.
