Hello. My name is Wayne. I'm new to this forum but am a big fan of using forums for info. I'm glad to find one for these bikes. I just bought an 81 GL500 Silverwing last night. 3200 miles, all original. Looks like I need to clean the carbs and may have a few leaks that need attention. Will clean it all up and go from there. This is my first ever bike, I'm 36 years old. A friend of mine turned me on to the cx500s. To me this silverwing was a sharper looking bike than the cx.

Welcome and you guys in the US do get some real bargains.3,200 miles!!!!

check out the Sticky on giving the bike a check though as even though it may look in good condition they are over 25 years old and will need some servicing etc :mrgreen:

PS you do know a well looked after CX/GL 500 can do well over 150,000 miles on the same crankshaft :D
