I'm hoping to apply for Collector's plates for my 82 Gl500i, so I can dramatically lower my insurance costs here in BC. I have a bit of body work to do first, which I have no experience in. Here's my questions:

Where do I find my paint codes? I have a Gray GL500i.
What kind of paint can I use on both the tank and saddlebags? I have a sprayer that hooks to my compressor that I can borrow.
Do I need some sort of paintbooth, or can I just paint outside?
Will the stock paint codes match my current paint colour, given that it's probably been fading for 28 years?

There's a lot of info about paint codes on the Australian Forum.Try their search function. When you find the post post it back here and I'll add it to a section for references :D

Not having much luck so far. This site doesn't go back to 1982, and this forum link references what sounds like a very helpful table, but I can't find a link to the table itself.

Are the paint codes not on the bike itself somewhere? On my truck, they're printed on the inside of the door, I figured the bike must have some kind of sticker like that somewhere.

Thanks a lot Shep, that was exactly what I was looking for. It appears the paint code for my 1982 GL500i is NH118MU.

It ends up that my Lordco, my local auto paint shop, didn't have that code in their big book of honda codes, so I'm unfortunately going to have to bring in a sidepanel or something for them to analyze anyways. Sorry to waste your time, but I appreciate the help.

How could it possibly be a waste of time.Knowledge and help are useless if not used or imparted and the board gets moody if not used<grin> :)
