Hi All Finally got my (inhertited) CX 500 on the road this weekend. The engine has been in pieces for 14 years. Two years ago I started putting the engine together. After shining all the bright work suddenly the frame looked old, so that got stripped and redone. Then the carbs - oh boy, missed the paragraph about don't separate the carbs - a year later that spring went into place, thanks to the helpful folk on the net sharing their wisdom and experience so willingly. A few other mistakes like having the fuel valve on but enough fuel in the tank and not having the uni-joint of the shaft actually on the g/box output shaft and she (always a she) is on the road and running! wow what a thrill! This is the first bike I am riding and it feels like I have ridden for ever on her. makes me wish I had started riding earlier. Thanks once again to all the folk who share so willingly their expertise. On the far flung part of the world it is really appreciated. Cheers Garth |
