CX500 GL500 650 Global

Tomorrow, all being well, I'll have another CX500 in my greedy clutches. As far as I know, it's a US import in a sad state so it will probably be a breaker. But who knows, it may end up as another trike yet.... Whatever, it'll be handy as a source of parts.

If you restore/use it it's another one back from the grave.If you part it out it could be several saved from the grave.Either way it a,"No lose" situation in my books and you are doing all CX/GL owners a service

Picked it up today Shep, and although there wasn't much time to look it over I'd day it is a breaker. It's a 79 US model with under 23,000 on the clock but has been left in a wet shed under a polythene sheet so you can imagine the rust. The fantastic things were, apart from the seatbase being whole, the toolkit is still in it's little bag there and the original US dealer's keyfob is on the key! It had been an immaculate bike before being neglected by this owner, shame. I'll have a poke around tomorrow and see what's what and what will clean up. I'll probably keep most of the goodies for spares for the trike but there may be a good frame and stuff which, as you say, may put another one back on the road. I'll post the list of parts giving anyone here first dibs before evilbaying what's left.

What does the dealer key-fob look like?

It was a rubbery type of thing with the dealer's name and logo on it, can't recall the name or which state it was from though. Sorry, but all the useable parts that I didn't need have been snapped up by another guy to put a CX back into daily use. His frame was rotted through and beyond repairing. Still puzzles me how he got to know I had got another bike and where I lived though!
